Purpose of Life is to Worship Allah

November 30th, 2008 by Khanverse

After reciting, Surah Al Fatiha, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (aba), Khalifatul Massih V, opened the sermon by expressing his gratitude to God Almighty who enabled him to visit the State of Kerala in India during this special time in the Jamaat’s history. This visit had not been possible in his previous trip to India in 2005 despite the intense desire of the residents of this State. Huzoor (aba) said that it is sometimes not possible to comprehend the extent of devotion and loyalty of Ahmadis unless and until it is witnessed first hand. Although Huzoor (aba) has previously met some Ahmadis from this part of India in Qadian and in London, but meeting so many Ahmadis in their home state has indeed provided a unique opportunity to see this devotion and the blessings of Allah that have been bestowed upon the Jamaat here personally. Some amongst Huzoor (aba)’s entourage have expressed that the Ahmadis of Kerala remind them of the discipline exhibited by the Indonesian Ahmadis; others said that their devotion and loyalty is comparable to that of the African Jamaats; but I feel that an Ahmadi, no matter where he resides, possesses the same degree of utmost devotion and loyalty, however the style of expression may be distinct. Huzoor (aba) said that there are many members who are probably meeting a Khalifa for the first time in their life, but the expression of love and sincere devotion in their eyes is apparent. This is due only because of the blessings of the belief in the Imam of the present age. It is a pity that despite this fervor and devoutness, non-Ahmadis doubt the truth of the Messiah’s advent. It is this devotion to Khilafat indeed that will take the Jamaat to unparalleled heights, finally reaching its desired destination.

Huzoor (aba) then explained that the desired destination for each Ahmadi is to achieve nearness of Allah Almighty and gain His pleasure, and we must strive to attain this state till the last breath of our life through our actions, by obeying the teachings of the Holy Prophet (saw) and by achieving the standards the Promised Messiah (as) wanted to see instilled in us. Remember that after Bai’at of the Promised Messiah (as), one’s goal should be to attain the standards described by him. If this is not our goal, then reciting poems in praise of Khilafat is of no significance. Many a people form emotional bonds with worldly leaders and make many sacrifices to achieve material goals, but how many make sacrifices for Allah and His Prophet (saw)? These sacrifices for worldly leaders have no significance whatsoever because they do not follow the Islamic teachings. The only true leader of this day and age is the Promised Messiah (as) whose advent is to revive the true teachings of Islam. Therefore, every Ahmadi should implement and practice the Quranic teachings as have been explained by the Promised Messiah (as), and only then can we become true Ahmadis. Huzoor (aba) quoted a passage from the writings of the Promised Messiah (as) in which he has emphasized that each Ahmadi should form a pure and unique relationship with Allah Almighty by shunning all sorts of evil (greed, dishonesty, deceit, arrogance, pride, self-indulgence, etc.). Unless and until such a bond is developed with God, one is extremely weak and is confined to spiritual obscurity and incapable of facing any adversities. Therefore, make every effort to become the bearers of spiritual light as opposed to darkness, so that you are protected against the evil machinations of Satan.

Huzoor (aba) expounded that the target given to us by the Promised Messiah (as) is to constantly seek help from Allah and develop a direct relationship with Him. This can only be done if we put forth the purpose of our creation before us, as described in the Holy Quran “I have not created the Jinn and men but that they may worship Me” (51:57).

If we bear this in mind at all times, then our efforts to shun the vices and adopt the virtues described by Allah will be fruitful. These actions will further enhance our relationship with Allah Almighty. Remember, Khilafat is only promised to those who are righteous and free of any form of idolatry, so if we want this blessing to stay with us, then we must always keep the purpose of our creation in mind.

The most fundamental way of worshipping God is through offering the five daily prayers. Every man, woman, young and old should remember that if they are lagging in observing Salat, then they will not be able to meet the standards prescribed to achieve the state of the righteous people. After reading another extract from the writings of the Promised Messiah (as), Huzoor (aba) stated that after the belief in One God, Salat is the most important tenet and therefore, you should perform it as if you see God before you. When one presents himself before a great leader, a type of fear prevails over him. God Almighty is the Most Supreme, therefore, visualizing God during Salat will eventually make us devoted worshippers. The Holy Prophet (saw) said that one should offer Salat as if you see God before you. But if you are unable to do so, at least recognize the fact that God, Who has power over all things and is aware of the condition of every heart, sees you. If we practice this, then our attention will be directed to improving our standards of worship, freeing them of worldly thoughts. Those who feel that they do not and/or cannot meet these standards should not despair. Remember, these are the standards you should strive for as this is the only way to make progress and attain additional blessings of Allah. Allah Almighty says “My mercy encompasses all things” (7:157).

Since we receive everything with Allah’s blessings, He will strengthen our efforts if we advance towards Him. When individuals will strive in this way, the entire Jamaat will benefit. By the Grace of God, there are many in the Jama’at who offer prayers during the night and are far advanced in their love for God, but the Promised Messiah (as) desired to see the majority of the Jamaat members to reach these standards, and as the numbers of those who improve in Taqwa increase, we shall witness the dominance of the Jama’at. Our good actions will also attract others towards us and become a source of “Dawat Ilallah” (propagation of Islam).

Huzoor (aba) said that by God’s grace, many Ahmadis he met during his visit to Kerala were filled with devotion to the cause of faith and believe in the acceptance of prayer and make every effort to achieve nearness of Allah. This was evident by their request to pray for their children that they may tread the right path. Huzoor (aba) advised not to let this devotion fade away but make the most of it to make spiritual progress and discard any type of idolatry that tries to creep into your lives. Since many living in India have contacts with non-Ahmadis, it is possible that “biddaat” (innovations) become part of your practices, so protect yourself against them because they can take you towards Shirk. The Ahmadis in Kerala reflect the 100% literacy rate of their home state, therefore you should use this education to protect your faith and also to acquire religious knowledge so that your religious conviction is strengthened and your future generations are safeguarded. Islam came to this part of the world in the very early period, and similarly, God enabled many to believe in the Promised Messiah (as) early on. Therefore, you should make every effort to propagate this message and bring people under the banner of the Holy Prophet (saw) as this is the only way to true salvation. The world around us is directing its attention towards Ahmadiyyat, whether it is in the form of hostility or curiosity. By bringing about a pure change in ourselves, and by turning towards Allah more than ever before, and by supplicating to God Almighty, we will meet with victory, InshaAllah.

The Ahmadiyya Movement in Islam is destined to unite, not just the entire Ummah, but in fact, the ENTIRE GLOBE under the banner of Islam and the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw), the Khataman Nabiyeen, with its globally united Khilafat (Caliphate)

Here is a presentation given by the current head, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, (ata) Ameerul Momineen, Khalifatul Masih V:

Bismillah ir Rahman ir Raheem
(In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Ever Merciful)

All the Honorable and Distinguished Guests,
Assalamo Alaikum wa rahmatullah wa barakatohu!

Peace and blessings of Allah be upon you all!
Note of Thanks

First of all, I would like to thank all our distinguished guests who have taken the trouble to accept our invitation to attend this function.

It is very difficult, I know, this being a week day, for you all to come here and attend this function.

It is obvious that you are all blessed with a spirit of humanity and high ethical values.

It is only right, therefore, that I should thank people of such high moral standards.

Special Significance of the Occasion

I have been here twice before, to attend the Annual Convention of the Ahmadiyya Movement and some of you have met me on those occasions.

However, the event that has been arranged today has never taken place before.

I am directly addressing persons who are sympathetic to the Jama’at, or who have had personal contact with members of our Community.

And there are also some distinguished guests who have no previous relationship with the Community.

The local administration has organized this function, as you know, because the Community is celebrating the Centenary event in the year 2008. For, after the demise of the Founder of the Ahmadiyya Community, his successors have now completed their first 100 years.
“Khilafat” and “Islam-Ahmadiyya”

The Succession is known as “Khilafat” and, with reference to it, we are celebrating Khilafat Centenary. As I said, there are many amongst you who have a relationship with the Community and know the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at very well.

It is a group within Islam, and which according to our teachings and beliefs, is the Community of the Promised Messiah (as) on whom be peace, created in accordance with the prophecies of the Holy Prophet Mohammad (saw).
Mission of the Promised Messiah

The Promised Messiah was to appear in the 14th century after the Holy Prophet (saw), to make Muslims and non-Muslims alike aware of their true Creator and to make them become of those who bow down in His Presence.

With the passage of time, certain weaknesses had appeared in the understanding of the teachings Islam, and these needed to be removed.

Similarly, objections that had cropped up against the teachings of the Holy Qur’an had to be responded to.

Duties to God and Duties to Man

Man had to be reminded of the rights of other human beings. An atmosphere of love, affection and peace had to be established in the world.

In other words, the rights owed to God Almighty and to His creation had to be discharged in order to make this world become Paradise.

This brief introduction and clarification was presented for the benefit of those who are not familiar with the Ahmadiyya Community, and also so that the fear of Islam, which some may hold within their hearts, may be removed.
Misrepresentation of Islam by some Muslims

Indeed, when the name of Islam is used, the general impression in this present era is, naturally, of fear. This is not the fault of those who are frightened.

Unfortunately, certain so-called Islamic groups, and certain others, have depicted Islam in such a way that it appears to be an uncivilized, extremist, belligerent and bellicose religion.

Just hearing the name of Islam leads to an impression of swords, bombings and suicide attacks.
No Compulsion in Religion

In any case, the purpose of the tasks I have described and that had been entrusted to the Messiah of Prophet Mohammad (saw) — tasks that are to be completed by his Khilafat — are not to be accomplished by force, but through winning hearts with love and affection. It is not possible to attain the nearness of Allah, or to discharge the rights of others, through compulsion.

The Holy Qur’an very clearly states that there should be no compulsion in religion. Chapter 2, verse 257.

The Founder of the Ahmadiyya Community has already expounded this beautiful teaching. He says that the Holy Quran clearly instructs NOT to take up the sword to spread the faith. Rather, one should present the individual beauties of the faith and attract others with one’s exemplary behavior.
Why battles were fought by Prophet Mohammad (saw)

Do not think that, at the outset, there was the instruction to use the sword. Indeed, the sword was NOT used to spread the faith.

In fact, it was used only as a means of defense against the enemy or to establish peace. Indeed, it was never used to compel in matters of faith. Matters of faith are related to one’s heart.

Sacrifices have to be made for the sake of religion. Thus, lives were offered in the first 13 years in Mecca. And even after the migration to Medina, when the enemies were attacking and despite being wholly ill-equipped, they fought back.

Could a person who had been forced to become a Muslim, ever offer such sacrifices? On the contrary, such a person would be greatly pleased if Islam were attacked. He would think that it was good that someone had come to save him. Hence, these sacrifices prove that whosoever became a Muslim became one wholeheartedly. And if he fought, he fought for a purpose. And what were those purposes?

If Islam means ‘Peace’, why did Muslims fight?

THE FIRST PURPOSE was to defend themselves. The enemy always incited the attack and the Muslims were forced to raise arms in defense.

THE SECOND PURPOSE was that when un-armed Muslims were deceptively attacked and cruelly killed, in retaliation for the bloodshed, and as a punishment for the cruelty, fighting took place. This was an Arab custom, and was indeed necessary for keeping the peace — and this continues to be so even today.

THIRDLY, if fighting took place, it was to weaken the opposition as it gathered together to annihilate the Muslims just because they worshipped the One True God. If fighting had not taken place in such conditions, then the disbelievers would have spared no Muslim. In fact, God Almighty says, they would surely have pulled down cloisters, churches, synagogues and mosques and cruelty would have continued to multiply.

Fighting was NEVER to gain converts

History bears witness to the fact that whenever Muslims engaged in a war, never was anyone compelled to become a Muslim. Each person had freedom of worship. On such occasions, the Holy Prophet (saw) particularly used to say, “Do NOT harm the elderly, women and children. And do NOT damage places of worship”, and went on to such an extent that he said that even trees were NOT to be felled.

Christians and people of other faiths lived in Muslim states with all of their rights preserved. The Djizia, that is the protection levy, was taken from non-Muslims, and if someone did not have the means to pay it, that person was absolved of the payment.

During the Khilafat of Hazrat Umar, the Second Successor of the Prophet of Islam (saw), a Jewish person was killed by an unknown murderer, and Hazrat Umar became extremely anxious. So, he gathered all of the people in the mosque of Medina, and, having invoked the fear of God in them, enquired about it from them.

One of the Muslims present at the time, admitted that the murder had been committed by him. So, he was made to pay blood-money with the consent of the Jewish family.

Muslims and non-Muslims Guaranteed Equal Rights

These are just a few of the incidents that I have narrated, but they are evidence that even in a state of war, Islam requires kind treatment of the enemy; whilst in times of peace, it preserves the rights of non-Muslims.

Had force been used, then these examples, evident from the lives of the Holy Prophet (saw) and his Successors, would never have appeared in history.
Ahmadiyya Islam is Love and Peace

The purpose of mentioning this history is to remove the misunderstanding that Islam is an extremist religion. The Promised Messiah, on whom be peace, has taught us to continue to implement these teachings and also to spread them. As stated in the excerpts that I just read, the Ahmadiyya Community knows only that Islam, which is the Islam of love and affection, and which offers a message of peace and security.

How to Achieve Peace

Now, I will present some instructions of the Holy Qur’an that aim to maintain peace within society.

It is oft-alleged that Islam is a war-like religion. But in fact, what are the circumstances in which Allah, The Almighty, permits Muslims to fight? Let us see. Allah, The Almighty, says: “And fight in the cause of Allah against those who fight against you, but do not transgress. Surely, Allah loves not the transgressors.” Ch. 2, v. 191
No Right to Start Hostilities

There is no right to initiate hostilities. In fact, you can only fight when you have been attacked. And even here, the instruction is not to transgress. What is meant by transgression?

At that time, the opponents of Islam used to mutilate the bodies of their fallen force. As this was an act of sheer contempt towards the corpse, it was forbidden in Islam. It was also forbidden to kill women, and children. It was forbidden to kill religious leaders – priests or rabbis – in their respective places of worship.

In other words, fighting could only take place on the battlefield. Or, if there was no other choice and they were forced to fight, in the towns. But even then, they could fight only against those who had initiated the hostilities.

Suicide Bombing NOT condoned by Islam

Today, we see that no party acts upon these sound teachings. Suicide bombers indiscriminately kill women, children and the elderly, whilst invading forces drop bombs on towns and cities, and fire bullets and rapid fire. They cause mass destruction to cities and infrastructure.

Evil of the Atom Bomb

These days, every major power possesses an arsenal of nuclear weapons, and even poor countries are joining this race. Mankind stands on the brink of the pit of destruction, whilst the Holy Quran teaches us not to harm the innocent.

The fallout from the atom bomb causes physical disabilities, generation after generation; and so, this crime is even worse than murder. After the use of the atom bomb, during the Second World War, one would have thought that the world would have refrained from ever again producing such weapons. But, in fact, they have continued to develop them and, indeed, there is a race to develop these weapons of mass destruction.

The Defeated in War Must Be Treated with Dignity

In order to establish peace, Allah, The Almighty says do not impose unreasonable restrictions upon vanquished nations. Rather, if the aggressor is inclined towards peace, then you must cease fire immediately. Do not then search for excuses and do not impose such conditions that humiliate any nation, because this also leads to severe repercussions. If you are able to repress a nation temporarily, a time will nevertheless come when its self-esteem will rise, and then the old feuds and battles will start all over again.

Such restrictions are only ever imposed by a conquering nation to prevent the vanquished nations from ever rising again. Fear is instilled in them to such an extent that they may never take a step without the permission of their conquerors; and they may always remain enslaved by them. The conquering nations are therefore able to keep an eye — and in fact, to spy — on neighboring territories, whilst sitting within the geographical boundaries of a conquered country.

Do NOT Covet Resources of Other Nations

Or, they are able to derive advantages from the resources of that country.

Allah, The Almighty, commands the Muslims that these worldly interests should not be the cause of their fighting. Allah, The Almighty, says: “Stretch not your eyes towards what We have bestowed on some classes for them to enjoy for a short time.” Chapter 15, verse 89

Allah, The Almighty, teaches that worldly wealth is but a temporary means that you see. Even if you acquire it, this wealth will inevitably disappear and not only that, but it will leave behind a state of constant turmoil. Thus, it is important for the peace of the world that each country and nation derives benefit from its own resources, and it should not look covetously upon the wealth of others.

Islam on War and Peace

To recapitulate, a Muslim is not permitted to engage in any war unless it is against those people who either prevent the practice and preaching of God’s religion or they are the cause of destroying peace in the world. Is this not a beautiful teaching for maintaining peace?

Then, God Almighty, says in the Holy Quran, “And if they incline towards peace, incline thou also towards it. And put thy trust in Allah. Surely, it is He Who is All-Hearing, All-Knowing”. Ch. 8, v.62

So, this is the Islamic teaching. There is no concept of extremism here. According to one of the most reliable traditions in the light of the teachings of Islam, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), always taught his Companions that they should never desire to confront the enemy. They should always seek peace and well-being from God Almighty. This is a most beautiful teaching of peace that has no parallel.

Justice for All - in All Circumstances

To fulfill the requirements of justice, Allah, The Almighty has ordained very high standards and expects that Muslims will discharge these obligations. God Almighty says, “And let not a people’s enmity incite you to act otherwise than with justice. Be always just; that is nearer to righteousness. And fear Allah. Surely, Allah is Aware of what you do.” Ch.5, v.9

This is a magnificent teaching to maintain peace in society, and to end enmities. It is indeed an extremely difficult task to fulfill the requirements of justice in relation to the enemy in the same way as one does with one’s own kith and kin. Yet, history bears witness that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) practiced such examples. He even took care of the needs of his enemies.

Compassion of Prophet Mohammad

Once, after the Prophet Mohammad had settled in Medina, there was a famine in Mecca. Despite the fact that the people of Mecca had cruelly restricted the food and water supply to Muslims for two and a half years when the latter lived in Mecca, the Holy Prophet (saw), nevertheless, sent them staple rations during these times of famine, out of compassion.

On another occasion, a tribal leader who had become a Muslim was arrested and beaten whilst performing the pilgrimage and was imprisoned. Finally, he was released at the request of some other leaders. The region of his tribe used to send grain to Mecca. So, the released prisoner said that grain would no longer be sent to Mecca, and he effectively stopped it.

Consequently, there was a shortage of grain in Mecca. The people of Mecca came to the Holy Prophet (saw) and said, “Order him not to stop the supply of grain”.

Despite the hostility that the Meccans had maintained against the Muslims, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), sent a message to the leader telling him not to stop sending the grain.

This is the practical effect of the teaching which declares “Let not the enmity of a nation prevent you from acting otherwise than with justice”.

This, therefore, is the teaching of the Holy Quran. And, this is the example of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

Why allegations of ‘Terrorism’ against Islam

Now, despite all this, the allegation is that the Holy Quran and the Holy Prophet (saw) taught extremism and committed terrorism. What can one say? Inspite of being educated, these critics are unaware of the teachings and history of Islam.

In fact due to their malice and grudges, they do not want to know, and they are the people who become the means of destroying the peace.

Terrorists defame Islam

I admit that certain terrorist groups have defamed the name of Islam. Their practices are wholly contrary to these teachings of Islam. Though they use the support of the Holy Quran to engage in Jihad and to kill, they forget the conditions that are integral to it.

The Holy Quran completely forbids the practice of suicide attacks which cause severe loss to civilians. If there is a permission for fighting under certain circumstances, then it is for the government to issue it and not for a few organizations within the government. What they are doing is not Jihad, but terrorism.

Judge a Religion on the Teachings and Practice of its Founder

Justice requires that to judge a religion, one should view the teachings and the practice of its founder and one should not base one’s judgment upon the actions of persons who followed much later on. One should not use the actions of the latter as an excuse to attack the teachings of their religion when those actions of theirs have absolutely nothing to do with the true teachings of their faith.

The Promised Messiah on ‘Jihad’: True Teachings of Islam

In any case, as I have mentioned before, I will now present certain teachings of the Founder of the Ahmadiyya Community regarding the so-called Jihad and terrorism.

This teaching, a part of which I have just mentioned, represents the true doctrine of Islam. In fact, it was the Founder of the Ahmadiyya Community, the Messiah of the Age, who presented the true understanding of the teachings of Islam so that the world could recognize their God and could create an atmosphere of mutual love, making this world into an earthly Paradise.

Mullahs Preached Jihad against the British Raj

As you may be aware, the sub-continent of India and Pakistan remained under the rule of the British Raj for a long time. The Founder of the Ahmadiyya Community created the Community and made his claim of being the Messiah and Mahdi at a time when the British government’s rule was at its peak. Despite the British government’s total control and rule over India, a very large part of the Muslim population was against the government, and they spread a lot of poison about it.

Mullahs Taught Hatred

Even at that time, Muslim clerics – Mullahs – used their mosques to fan the fires of hatred against the government. They tried to create rebellion in one place after another. They tried to provoke unrest against the government.

Inspite of this, the Promised Messiah’s claim that he was the fulfillment of the prophecy of the Holy Prophet (saw), that states that the Promised Messiah and Reformer was to come in this Age — the literature and books of other religions, including Christianity, having also predicted the same — the Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, while counseling his Jama’at, announced that the British government was no doubt a Christian government, but the fact was that it duly discharged the rights of its citizens. Therefore, it was not permitted to take any severe step against it. And that it was forbidden to create any disorder under the pretext of Jihad.

Great debates were held between Christian missionaries and the Promised Messiah (as) over the religions of Christianity and Islam. And these have been mentioned in his literature. But, with kindness and wisdom, he always drew attention to the importance of expounding the beauties of Islam.

The Promised Messiah Invited Queen Victoria to Islam

It was during his lifetime that Queen Victoria celebrated her Diamond Jubilee, upon which the Founder of the Community congratulated Her Majesty. He further expressed ways to establish reconciliation and harmony between faiths so that there could be permanent peace in the world.

Moreover, he expressed his gratitude for the just nature of the British government and extended the message of Islam to Queen Victoria.

His instruction to live peacefully under British rule were not because of any fear, but were in accord with Qur’anic teachings.

In this connection, I shall present some excerpts from his writings. He says:

This prayerful, humble one who has come to this world in the name of Jesus, the Messiah (as), also feels proud to live in the Age of this great Queen of India, just as the Holy Prophet (saw) the Chief of both worlds, felt pride during the rule of Nau Sherwan, the Just.

It is obligatory upon every person to remember the kindness of Her Majesty on her Diamond Jubilee and by remembering her in their sincere prayers, to congratulate and to present a token of thanksgiving to Her Majesty.

However, I see that this duty lies most heavily upon me. God has preferred for me that for this divine mission, I should seek refuge in the peaceful rule of Her Majesty. So, Allah, The Almighty, has appointed me at such a place and at such a time where Her Majesty’s empire acts as a steel fortress for the protection of the dignity, wealth and life of the people.

It is the biggest obligation upon me that I should express my thanks for the manner in which I have been able to spread the message of Truth whilst living here in peace.

He wrote a book, Tohfah-e-Qaisariyyah, in which he mentioned all these things, and sent that book to the Queen.

Basic Principles for Inter-Religious Harmony

Then, in order to bring an end to inter-religious hatreds, he states:

Therefore, this principle is most appropriate and blessed, and it lays the foundation for peace, that we should consider all such Prophets to be true whose religion has taken firm root and has matured, and which millions have joined. This is a most prudent and good principle. And, if the entire world adheres to this principle, then thousands of disorders and religious blasphemies, that threaten the peace of the common man, will evaporate. It is obvious that those who consider others to be following a religion whose spiritual leader is, according to their reasoning, in reality a liar and a fabricator, are the cause of many feuds. And they most certainly are guilty of blasphemy. They use the foulest language against that Prophet and extend it to abuse. And they destroy the peace of the common people, even though this ideology is completely wrong. And in the eyes of God, they are cruel due to their foul language.

This principle is most attractive and peace-generating, and its sows the seeds of reconciliation and improves the moral conditions. We should consider all prophets who came to the world as being true, whether they appeared in India, Persia or China or any other country. For God has planted their dignity and greatness in the hearts of millions and strengthened the roots of their religions. Their religion continued for centuries.

This is the principle that the Holy Quran has taught us: namely, that we should respect the founder of each and every religion whose life has come under this definition. Whether it be the leader of the Hindu religion, or the Persian religion, or the Chinese religion, or the Jewish religion, or the religion of the Christians; but, sadly, our opponents cannot treat us in a like manner.

This is an excerpt from another one of his books.

The Promised Messiah then further says,

Those who subscribe to the belief that they should consider the prophets of different peoples to be liars and should continue to speak ill of them, they are always the enemies of peace and reconciliation. This is because there is nothing worse than to cause disorder by abusing the saints amongst people.

Slander of Prophets is Not Freedom of Speech

Today, the people who entertain and spread such thoughts about the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and the Holy Quran, are certainly amongst those who destroy the peace. This is not freedom of thought, nor is it freedom of speech, but a means of playing with the sentiments and feelings of others, as a result of which peace is destroyed. The Promised Messiah says in connection with the views held on Jihad:

The second principle for which I have been appointed is the reform of the incorrect concept of Jihad that is widespread among some ignorant Muslims. So, God has made me understand that the prevailing concept of Jihad is opposed to the Quranic teachings.

There is no doubt that there was permission to fight in the Holy Quran. It was based on the fact that those who took up the sword unjustly, murdered Muslims without cause, and took oppression to extremes, be killed by the sword. But, even then, this punishment is not as severe as the battles of Moses, on whom be peace.

Then, he goes on to say:

During the time of our Prophet (saw), the basic reason for the Islamic Jihad was that Allah’s anger was aroused against those who inflicted cruelty, whilst you are living under the shade of such a just-natured government, as Her Majesty’s empire. To resort to revolt against such a rule cannot be classed as Jihad. Rather, this is the height of ignorance and savagery. As for a government under which one lives free and in total peace, and under which religion’s obligations can be discharged in full, to bear ill intentions against it would be a criminal act and not Jihad. God Almighty has made me stand on the principle that a kind government such as the British government should be obeyed and true gratitude ought to be expressed. So, my Jama’at and I completely adhere to this principle.

The Message of Islam-Ahmadiyyat

So, this is the teaching which is given to us by the Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in light of the Holy Quran. It was given to us by that person sent in this Age as the Messiah and Reformer by Allah, The Almighty, who was to establish peace in the world.

I hope that those of you who are aware of the teachings and practices of the Ahmadiyya Community will bear testimony that there is a very clear distinction between Ahmadi Muslims and non-Ahmadi Muslims, or, indeed, others.

Indeed, we desire only peace, and nothing else. We want mankind to recognize the Omnipotent God. For this purpose we are very active in Africa, Europe and the Americas, as well as in islands all over the world. The service of mankind is our primary objective.
Service to Humanity

Moreover, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community offers its services without seeking any worldly reward, nor are we interested in any verbal praise. This spirit exists in the Community because it is linked in chain of the institution of Khilafat, and at all times this Khilafat enjoins the members of the Community to adhere to these peaceful teachings.

God Almighty sent the Promised Messiah to establish these principles.

In other words, today we do not just float the cliché of “Love for All, Hatred for None”, but we are actually endeavoring to put this principle into practice.

Prayers for Canada

I now end this subject with the prayer that all Muslims and non-Muslims carry the fear of their Creator in their hearts, so that they only have good feelings for His creatures. At the same time, I am most grateful to the Canadian government and the Canadian people, who are bringing together all religions and all peoples open-heartedly. The members of the Ahmadiyya Community are also living peacefully here, and are free to practice their religion and to openly express it.

In view of this cosmopolitan quality of Canada in which people of different religions and different faiths can live together peacefully, my predecessor, Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad, the Fourth Khalifa, stated, in admiration of Canada, that he wished that the whole world becomes Canada and that Canada becomes the whole world.

May Allah enable this quality to remain forever. May you, the people and government of Canada, continue to live up to the expectations of justice, and to display open-heartedness, so that, as a result, the bounties of God Almighty, conferred upon you, continue for ever!

Al Wahab The Bestower

November 27th, 2008 by Khanverse

Huzur gave a discourse on a Quranic prayer with reference to the Divine attribute of Al Wahab in his Friday Sermon today.

The prayer is in Surah Al e Imran, verse 9. The translation reads; ‘Our Lord, let not our hearts become perverse after Thou hast guided us; And bestow on us mercy from Thyself; surely, Thou art the Bestower.’ (3:9)

Huzur said here supplication is made to Allah by the virtue of His attribute of Al Wahab.

Giving a most beautiful elucidation of the prayer, Huzur said it signifies supplicating as follows; O’ Allah, with Your grace and blessings You have enabled us to accept the true and ardent devotee of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) whose advent You brought about among the Ummah of the Prophet in the latter-days.

O’ Allah the prophecy of Your most beloved person (peace and blessings of Allah be on him), that he certainly made after being informed by You, enlightens us about the eternal system of Khilafat to be established after the Messiah (on whom be peace). O’ Allah You have associated us with this system, do not now deprive us of this blessing due to any negligence of ours.

Man errs; therefore we turn to You O’ Allah and beg You that due to this or any other failing, may we never see the day when our hearts turn perverse or we may do something that displeases You.

Not only may we stay firm on guidance rather, cover us in Your mercy and keep us safe from all evil and increase us in taqwa and in faith.

Huzur said saying this beautiful prayer should be ‘routine’ for every Ahmadi. This will help us keep a conscious eye on our weaknesses. It will help safeguard our Salat and our Salat will, in turn, safeguard us.

As the prayer seeks, may there never be an instance where we may have any negative feeling about the Jama’at. Our deeds should be such that if, due to our human failing, such a situation arises, it may never result in our faith stumbling and for us to have any ill-feeling towards the system of the Jama’at and Khilafat.

Huzur said the Holy Qur’an gives the examples of the people of the earlier prophets of God because they deemed that once they had believed they were not in any need of guidance. This is how the Jews and the Christians are described. They made negative assumptions and this led them to be arrogant about the knowledge they possessed. So much so that they ended up being termed as ‘those who have incurred God’s displeasure’ and ‘those who have gone astray’ as described in Surah Al Fatihah.

Huzur said the recitation of Surah Al Fatihah in each rakat of Salat signifies the importance to learn a lesson and continually seek Allah’s blessings and grace. Otherwise as the earlier people lost their way, so too may we.

Huzur said unfortunately today the majority of those who are called Muslims are treading the ways that lead away from God and the reason for this is the negative assumptions they make [about the Promised Messiah] and their pomposity over the knowledge they have.

Huzur said Ahmadis are the fortunate people who have accepted the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) and thus witnessed the prayer of not being included in ‘those who incur God’s displeasure’ and ‘those who go astray’, may Allah keep us firm on this. However, Allah commands to always engage in prayer to keep one’s heart from being perverse or to be included in those who incur God’s displeasure or those who go astray.

Each Ahmadi should be mindful of this and the others may be enabled as well so that a true one Ummah materialises and each Muslim accepts the Messiah of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) and may the ummah thus be one who truly comprehends the fundamental message of this prayer.

Huzur said it is evident from Ahadith that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) used to say this prayer abundantly. He would say that a person’s heart is between two fingers of God, He may guide whomsoever He wishes and lead astray whomsoever He wishes. Huzur said this does not mean that the Prophet’s (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) heart was God forbid, perverse. Certainly not; it is out of the question. His heart was filled with nothing but remembrance of God. It is through him that Allah had it declared: ‘… follow me; then will Allah love you and forgive you your faults…’ (3:32)

Indeed, in following the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) is salvation. He said while his eyes slept his mind was filled with remembrance of Allah. Therefore the fact that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) said this prayer and others in the same vein was to establish a model for us.

The model was for his ummah to follow, so that when the time of the latter-day Messiah came they would accept him. If only the rest of the Muslims understood this. There is no greater tragedy than to lose one’s way after finding the truth. Muslims should ponder and reflect over this. Their current state of affairs reflects that they have incurred Allah’s displeasure. May Allah have mercy on them.

It is the grace of Allah that in fulfilment of the prayers of Hadhrat Ibrahim and Ishmael (peace be on them both) and of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) the Messiah came but they do not accept him because according to them, they are not in the need of a guide.

The fact of the matter is that it is not in the interest of the so-called mullah that the Promised Messiah is accepted. It would shut down his trade/business. It is only an excuse that acceptance of the Messiah impinges on the ‘finality of prophethood’.

They say they have the Qur’an therefore they do not need a guide. However, it is interesting that they do not deny the need for Khilafat. The ignorant people do not realise that without the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) there can be no Khilafat. The fact that the Messiah came from among the ummah of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) is indeed a testimony that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) was the Seal of all the Prophets’.

Huzur said the knowledge and insight of the Holy Qur’an is only unfolded to those who are God’s chosen people and in this age the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) is God’s chosen person who elucidated the secrets and insights of the Holy Qur’an to us.

Indeed the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) said that those who do not accept him say they do not need a Messiah and that the Qur’an is sufficient for them, although they know full well that they Qur’an does not give insight to anyone other than the pure.

Huzur said in this age Allah purified the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) with His own hands and gave him comprehension of the Holy Qur’an.

Seeing the state of affairs of the other Muslims, while the Ahmadis should be grateful that they have been enabled to accept the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace), they should also always pray to be saved for all kind of perversity. Just as the world is getting more and more materialistic there is a greater need to say this prayer so that we are never denied the blessing and are kept steadfast.

Reading an extract from the writings of the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) Huzur spoke of the importance of not only seeking protection from perversity but also to join the ranks of Muhsineen (those who do good).

According to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) Muhsineen are those who do everything with the view that Allah watches over them every moment. The Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) said Muhsineen are those who dissociate themselves from narcissism/egotism. Huzur prayed that may Allah enable us to safeguard our worships and our deeds, may we turn to Allah and avoid narcissism and always keep away from all kinds of perversity so that we may value the blessings that Allah has granted us out of His mercy and may our generations continue to be blessed with this mercy.

Next Huzur informed that soon he is going to travel to Qadian for the Jalsa Salana and asked for prayers in this regard. May Allah bless this trip with success in every way and keep every Ahmadi safe.

Huzur said many people are travelling to Qadian from all over the world for the Jalsa. The government of India has cooperated a lot in issuing visas despite their internal problems.

May those who, despite their intention cannot go, be rewarded for their intention. Huzur said those who are going to Qadian as well as those who are not, should continually pray that may Allah protect from the envier and the mischievous. May Allah keep the inhabitants of Qadian safe.

Huzur said India is a very large country and people from far-off jama’ats can not afford to travel to Qadian. It was their wish that Huzur visited them. Therefore Huzur is also going to visit other cities in India. May Allah make this successful and may it bring forth countless blessings leaving all cunning of the enemy to naught. May Allah cover our faults and may He never deny us His grace and blessings.

Next Huzur announced that after Prayers he would lead two funeral Prayers in absentia, the first for, Bashir Ahmad Mahar sahib, who was a dervish of Qadian and passed away on 13th November. Huzur said he was from the early dervishes. Despite having had the opportunity to leave for Pakistan, where he had ancestral land, he chose to stay in Qadian. Huzur said he was a very simple and pious person with great affection for Khilafat.

The second funeral Prayer was for Muhammad Ghazanfar Chatta sahib from Boraywala Pakistan where he was an inspector for the finance dept of the jama’at. On 18th Nov two unknown motorcyclists attacked him trying to snatch the bag he was carrying. When he resisted, they fired at him and he lost his life. Huzur said he considered his martyrdom associated to the Jama’at because Huzur believed his bag contained Jama’at documents and perhaps also some cash. May Allah forgive him and elevate his station in Paradise.

Truth Movement Propaganda

November 19th, 2008 by Khanverse

My brother Andre, who runs Outlaw Journalism and the Outlaw Forum has produced another well-written article worthy of your undivided attention. It’s quite long so please read it on his website:

Propaganda making Truth movement irrelevent

Andre and I have had in a couple debates and an interview as well:

Khan Verse Andre: Debate on Religion, “Them”, & Solutions Part I

Khan Verse Andre: Debate on Religion, “Them”, & Solutions Part II

Andre Interviews Khanverse for Outlaw Radio

and here is my response to his latest article:

Propaganda making Truth movement irrelevent

The map isn’t the territory.

So if you’re gonna diss the variety of maps in existence and circulation, by means of which, people traverse the grand conspiracy of the evil psychopathic “them”, you might consider offering a viable alternative “map”, or some other stand alone system which is represents a more accurate understanding of what we’re up against.

It’s the same problem when linguists whine about the limits of language as a tool to accurately represent reality but don’t offer anything of a solution to this problem.

Further, as I’ve endlessly tried to convince you, history is NOT a tale of homogenous slavery. Besides, there isn’t enough information about any “non-civilized” tribal society of the distant past whose diametric opposition to the least oppressive form of “civilization” can be reliably quantified.

There are just as many gray areas and blind spots in your map as anyone else’s brother.

The Tragedy by Jonathan Azaziah

November 19th, 2008 by Khanverse

The Tragedy by Jonathan Azaziah

My name is Jonathan Michael Azaziah.

My father is an Iraqi Hebrew whose native tongue is Arabic, and my mother is half Moroccan Hebrew who was born in Boston. Her other half is ethnic white Russian. I was raised in an outspoken anti-Zionist household, that pushed the boundaries of prejudice towards Ashkenazim, and while I do not condone my father’s feelings exactly, I do believe they are justified and have an undeniable validity. While I do not identify with any religion, I cling to my roots because of the struggle they represent. My uncle Isaac, my cousin Michah, his Palestinian fiancee Jamilah, my Ethiopian Hebrew mentor Nehemiah Judah, my friend Esther Shifaz, and her comrade Reza Ahmad, have all died at the hands of the Zionist entity. May they all rest in peace.

There have been many words used to describe the situation in Israel between the Zionist colonialists and the indigenous Palestinians. It has been called a conflict. It has been called a quagmire. It has been called a struggle. But after the deaths of 1.5 million Palestinians, an estimated 50,000 Israelis, and 4.5 million Palestinians becoming refugees in their own land, there is only more word that possesses acceptable suitability. And that word is tragedy. When innocent people become the pawns in a chess game played by the powers that be, and their very existence is expendable in the eyes of these powers, that, is by its very nature, tragic. While there has been casualties on the Israeli side of the fence, or in this case, a 405 mile long, 25 foot high barbed wire laced block, appropriately and menacingly titled The Iron Wall, it is the result of the ever-growing occupation. The Universe thrives when the forces of balance are in constant motion. It is a surefire sign that it is functioning properly. And in the eyes of the cabal running this world, the morbid opposite of occupation, is of course, resistance. It is only logical. If a man walks into your home, rapes your wife, kills your children, then politely informs you he will be moving his wife and children in, are you going to allow him to do so? Whether you are the type of human being that believes in fighting back, or whether you are a pacifist, at this point, your animal instincts will kick in, and you strike back against this murdering psychopath on the motivation of your survival mechanism. This scenario is a quite literal interpretation of the Israeli-Palestinian tragedy.

The radical Zionist Irgun and Stern gangs committed unthinkable, evil acts of terrorism for a little over a decade, to insure the viability of a Jewish state, including the now infamous King David Hotel bombing. These groups raped and pillaged their way to democracy, and that is by no means a generalization. Just ask the innocent, and helpless, victims of Deir Yassin. Irgun, which was a radical offshoot of Haganah, and Stern, which was an even more radical offshoot of Irgun, were encouraged by their superiors to use whatever means they felt were necessary to accomplish their mission; they would later become the founding members of the IDF, the Mossad, and the internal security service, Shin Bet. Terrorists like Menachem Begin and Yitzhak Shamir would be placed into the highest political office in Israel, and both of these terrorists would have a hand in the murder of President John F. Kennedy. And here, in the United States Of America, we are blessed to have the son of an Irgun terrorist in our esteemed House Of Representatives. His name is Rahm Emanuel, and he will now serve as Chief Of Staff to Barack Obama. This terrorist isn’t being singled out because of the sins of his father, but the sins of his own volition. He served in the IDF.

While Hamas was trained and funded by the Mossad in an attempt to control the opposition, and Fatah was trained and by the CIA in an American attempt to keep an eye on their staunch ally, genuine Palestinian terrorism, or in my personal opinion, resistance, was most certainly learned from the godfathers of Israel. While it is obviously not my belief that Israeli blood is more valuable than Palestinian blood, or vice versa for that matter, I believe innocent life is innocent life, this is a frighteningly real belief of many American Zionists and many Israeli Zionists, including the military. Even more frightening, is the radicalized extremist view that Palestinians, and Arabs in general, are beneath them, and should not even be considered human beings. This lack of concern for any life other than their own was evidenced clearly when IDF fired almost a million bullets into Palestinian homes at the onset of the Second Intifada in 2000. Innocent civilian casualties on either side of the tragedy are to be mourned, for it is truly sad and heartbreaking. But something must be made clear. The Palestinians fight with rocks, sticks, and whatever else they can get their hands on. The Israelis fight with tanks. The Palestinians live under curfew, surveillance, and military oppression. The Israelis enjoy the freedoms of a democratic society. More than 100,000 olive trees have been uprooted, at the behest of the Israeli government, and at the hands of American contractors like Caterpillar. This has severely damaged the economic livelihood of many Palestinian farmers who relied on the trees. Israelis go to, and from, their jobs with no issue whatsoever, and their only worry is performing accordingly so their boss doesn’t fire them. Israelis are not the victims of genocide, they are the perpetrators of it. Palestinians do not have clean water to bathe in because the water wells have been confiscated by the Zionist state. The Israelis have clean water because they stole it from the Palestinians, and in turn, have created an ecological disaster.

The reason why I say Israelis, and not the Israeli government, is because the silence of Israel’s citizens is just as deafening as the silence of America’s citizens when it comes to the wrongdoing here in our country. In both instances, we have sheep, collaborating knowingly and unknowingly with deranged and destructive forces. And the pro-Zionist media networks in America, Britain, and Israel seldom portray the detriment of the Palestinian people. The only time it is shown, is if it will benefit the colonization in some manner. At this point in time, there are 142 settlement towns with a total population of 484,562. The Oslo Peace Accords were a sham. The idea of returning the Golan Heights to Syria, or “Rabin’s Deposit” as it is known now, most likely died with the assassinated prime minister. There has been U.N. Resolution after U.N. Resolution condemning Israel for horrendous human rights violations, 88 in total. One of these resolutions was numbered 3379, and it equated Zionism with racism. Despite the consensus amongst the international community, the settlements continue. Under the hard-line leadership of Ehud Olmert, several attempts to halt the settlements were deflected, and then forgotten. The Iron Wall is growing, it is assumed to reach the 500 mile mark by late next year, and opposition to the apartheid on the Israeli side is constantly undergoing transformation because of the consequences of being called a traitor.

Which brings me to the reason why this was written. My close friend, Esther Shifaz, an Israeli-born Mizrahi Jew of Iranian descent, gave her life for the fight against Zionist power on September 7th 2008. She was 22 years old, and would’ve been 23 on December 28th. Esther was sublimely intelligent, extremely beautiful inside and out, and hoped to become a lawyer in international law to defend those being victimized by the Zionist criminals. She was born in Netivot, an Israeli development town, and one of the poorest communities in Israel. She moved into the predominantly Arab-Jewish slum in Tel Aviv, The Hatikva Quarter, when she was 8 and became embroiled in the Palestinian culture of racism, occupation, and oppression. My friend fell in love with a Palestinian boy, and their families were ecstatic about such a connection. When Esther was 14, her love, the aforementioned Palestinian boy, Ibrahim Abdul-Zahir, and two of her friends, were marching into Safra Square to protest the disgusting behavior of IDF in their neighborhood, when they were fired upon by IDF. Esther said she heard them reload after the first barrage. Ibrahim was shot twice in his head. He died instantly. One of her friends, Shalom Ben-Sabra, was also killed after a shot in the chest. He died from loss of blood. Their weapons were signs of protest, not guns, not knives, or bombs. Esther, and her other friend, Anaan Abbas, survived, but were never the same. Anaan became clinically depressed, putting her at odds with her family. She ran away, and has not returned home as far as I know. Esther’s family spent their life savings to leave Israel for New York and made an attempt to put the misery behind her. This was not the case. She became close with another dear friend of mine, Fatima, a Lebanese girl who lost an uncle, a niece, and a nephew in the 2006 genocide. And through Fatima, she became close with me. When Fatima left for Israel in June of this year, it didn’t take long for Esther to follow. Under serious pressure, completely positive of a mole in the mix, and with the lives of her brethren and coalition on the line, Esther took matters into her own hands, and on September 7th, blew herself up at a weapons depot in Ramallah, killing herself, the mole, 13 Israeli soldiers, and wounding 30 others.

The story was displayed on Haaretz’ website under the banner of “Yet Another Palestinian Suicide Bomber.” It was taken off when the location was discovered, and any further reporting would jeopardize National Security as they say. Whether they knew the bomber was my Mizrahi friend or not, is unknown. If they do, I am 99.9% sure that it will never come out because it will empower other Mizrahi Jews struggling with their identity; they are told that all Jews are equal, yet it is Mizrahim and Ethiopians who live in development towns in destitution, and Ashkenazis who live plush; and it would also further display the staggering similarities between Palestinians, Mizrahim, and Ethiopian Jews, facilitating unity. The Zionist state, cannot have unity. Due to Dearabization, as discussed and documented in Ilan Pappe’s “The Ethnic Cleansing Of Palestine”, and Nissim Rejwan’s “An Outsider In The Promised Land”, Mizrahim have been stripped of their ugly history in Israel, and are taught that it was the Arabs that forced them out of their homelands. (The same Arabs they had lived side by side with, in peace, and brotherhood, for more than a millennia, until the Zionist machine began advancing its agenda.) This, of course, could not be any further from the truth.

If Mizrahim knew the truth about their history, a new group would rise up and finish what the Israeli Black Panthers started 35 years ago, I’m sure of that. If they knew it was Zionist agents that placed bombs in their synagogues, schools, and coffeehouses in Iraq, blew up ships full of Jews in Morocco, funded the Nazi occupation of Tunisia, and murdered rabbis in Yemen, there would be a revolution indeed. If they knew, that the first prime-minister of Israel, the godfather of Labor Zionism himself, David Ben-Gurion, thought of Mizrahim as “human dust”, and, “devoid of culture, education, and civility”, maybe, just MAYBE, they would wake up. And if those Hitlerite statements aren’t enough, then the disturbing story of Operation X-Ray/Operation Ringworm, should definitely do the trick. In 1951, David-Ben-Gurion was eager to test out the new radioactive weaponry he had acquired from an arms deal signed by traitor, President Harry Truman. Ben-Gurion had Menachem Begin take 100,000 Mizrahi children who had just ‘emigrated’ from their Arab homelands, to a facility to be treated for ringworm. What happened next is one of the many tragedies that plague the Zionist state’s beginnings. In terms of numbers, it comes nowhere near Al-Nakba, but in terms of suffering, it is equally as horrifying. The children were infected with 35 Times the amount of radiation the human body can take, and 6,000 died in the first few days. The remaining victims would perish in the coming weeks. If that STILL doesn’t change the viewpoints of Mizrahi Jews that grew up with Zionist brainwashing, then enough is enough, and it is time to call them what they are, and that is “Zionist enemy.”

The story of my friend Esther, is vitally important for two reasons. The first reason is the desperation so many feel in Israel. The only way they can fight back, and strike back against the establishment, is after their humanity is stripped from them, and they feel their life is meant to end for their cause, not for God as portrayed by the racist and ignorant media. The other reason is, it shows that it is not Jews to blame, it is Zionists. There are Jews that are just as vehement in their campaign to end the occupation as Palestinians are. It is also true, that most of these Jews are of Mizrahi and Ethiopian origin, and the reason for their resistance, is because they experience racism and oppression from the White, European, Ashkenazi-run state as well. The poverty and excessive drug use is rampant in most Mizrahi and Ethiopian communities. Just like the Cosa Nostra and Kosher Nostra pumped heroin and cocaine into ghettos for the CIA here in America, the Israeli and Russian mob families pump ecstasy and cocaine into the development towns of Israel for the Mossad. The Israeli prison system is mainly comprised of Mizrahim and Ethiopians. Mizrahi women are not afforded the same opportunities that Ashkenazi women are, and are forced to dye their hair and change their eye color if they wish to be successful. This is documented in Iraqi Jewish activist Loolwa Khazzoom’s melancholy but brilliant book, The Flying Camel. Despite the vast social disparities, and they are vast, there are Ashkenazi groups dedicated to the death of the apartheid too, the most prominent one being the EAAI, Ethnic Ashkenazim Against Israel. There are also dedicated Ashkenazi individuals, like Norman Finklestein, who have written fearlessly and extensively on the Zionist entity’s disturbing and evil misconduct to the detriment of his own personal and professional life. And despite his stubbornness in perpetuating the “6 Million Died” myth, he should be commended for his efforts.

The point is, the problem is not Jew. The problem is not Muslim. The problem is not Hebrew. And the problem is not Arab. The problem is Zionism, which has its foundations in atheistic nationalism, socialism, and Talmudic-supremacist racism that has given maniacs the ability to commit genocide in its name with not even a drop of remorse, not even the false religious kind. I am a Brooklyn baby. I was born and raised in the Marcy projects of Bedford-Stuyvesant, and there were points in my life, where the violence was brutal enough, that walking to school, or to the cornerstore to get candy was unbearably scary. I’ve buried many brothers and sisters, seen many battles, and I have mental, and physical scars that tell the story, as do many of my people who survived the struggle. But nothing…… and I mean nothing….. here in America, no matter how fucked up the slum may be, compares to the horrors of Palestine. Desmond Tutu has likened the conditions to apartheid South Africa, but worse. Women are raped by Israeli military officials. The slaughter of innocent civilians is not condemned, but condoned. Palestinian children are doused with gasoline and lit on fire for the amusement of IDF. Fundamentalist settlers verbally and physically assault Hebron residents with more and more viciousness. American hellfire missiles are launched from Israeli helicopters into working class neighborhoods, or whatever is left of them. Napalm is fired from Israeli fighter jets. Bombs are dropped when militance begins climbing, etc, etc, etc.

What my friend Esther did, took the utmost courage. I do not support the tactic of suicide, not because of what ensues after it, but because it takes the gorgeous soul away from the people that love them. You hear me girl? I love you. And your moms loves you. And your pops loves you. And they miss you terribly. They’re devastated, and they’re lost without you. You need to give them a sign or something, if there is such a thing as an afterlife. And because of beautiful souls like yours, I believe there is. I do understand everything and see it for what it is though. Through and through. And I do feel the pain deep in my heart. Thank you Esther, for fighting for those who cannot fight. Now it is time for us to speak for those who cannot speak, and when the time comes, we will continue your fight. Word to the doves that have bled, Free Palestine is what I’m screaming ’till my skin is colored in red…..
